Today would’ve marked Opening Day at Comerica Park, the home of our Detroit Tigers. Our team formed a strong relationship with their team in 2019, when we announced a multi-year sponsorship that included branding the right field bar inside the stadium. The Coppercraft Bar is still inside Comerica Park, but the players, the coaches, and the fans are not… and may not be for the foreseeable future. How can we help you cope with cabin fever and sports deprivation? How about a film triple-header, featuring some of our favorite baseball films and accompanying cocktails?
Moneyball, featuring “Moneyball”
The story of an eccentric manager who turns the atrocious Oakland Athletics into a numerical anomaly. The film features a star-studded cast including both Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. Oddly enough, it was Mr. Hill, not Mr. Pitt, who hit a homerun with his performance and walked off with an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
- 2 oz Coppercraft Gin
- .75 oz lime juice
- .75 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz egg white
Combine ingredients in a shaker. Dry shake, wet shake, and strain into coupe. Dry shake means to shake ingredients without ice. Recipes that involve egg white start with a dry shake.
The Sandlot, featuring “Squints’ Spiked Limeade”
Have a memory associated with The Sandlot? It’s hard not to. This iconic coming-of-age comedy lands on a lot of Top 10 lists. Revisit the sandlot while sipping on a cup of “Squints’ Spiked Limeade.”
- 2oz Coppercraft Straight Bourbon
- .5 oz honey syrup
- .5 oz cherry syrup
- .75 oz lime juice
Combine ingredients in a shaker. Wet shake and pour into Collins glass. Top with soda water.
Bad News Bears, featuring “Coach Morris’ Liquid Courage”
Our third and final drink is for those in need of a quick fix to deal with the stress that’s come with social distancing. Combined light and dark rum with a splash of lime juice and a skosh of Vanilla Cherry Coke.
- 1 oz Coppercraft Clear Rum
- 1 oz Coppercraft Barrel-Aged Rum
- .5 oz lime juice
Our Holland-based restaurant is currently closed in accordance with Governor Whitmer’s latest recommendations and our own desire to limit any potential future impact of COVID-19. But Coppercraft spirits are still available for purchase online or pickup locally in a store near you.
